Beyond Caliphs and Sultans: Critical Muslim Histories Fall Semester

At ICNA Nassau, we believe our history matters—not just to know what happened, but to understand where we are today and where we’re headed as an Ummah.

Starting September 14, we’re offering an 11-week course called “Beyond Caliphs and Sultans: Critical Muslim Histories.” This course isn’t about memorizing dates or names—it’s about making sense of our story as Muslims. How did we get here? What shaped us? And how do we carry that history with honesty and clarity?

We’ll be learning from Br. M. A. Zaman & Br. Tamzid, exploring major themes in Islamic history—from the early caliphates to colonialism to the spiritual traditions that shaped our communities.
